After facing financial hardship, tragedy, and the disruption of Covid, the cooperative’s 326 smallholder farmers came together to rebuild with stronger leadership, accountability, and a renewed focus on quality. Today, Ruta del Inca is investing in high-elevation specialty coffee, agroforestry, improved processing, and varieties like Gesha and Bourbon. Farming as high as 2,400 meters, these producers are proving how strong communities and thoughtful investment can create both exceptional coffee and a more sustainable future.
